RAW VS. LUXURY
The secret to pleasure is a life of ongoing exploration, experimentation, practiced enjoyment and discovery; that’s the philosophy behind British women’s ready-to-wear label TRUFFLE. Launched at the Soho Hotel in London during London Fashion Week September ’07 & in Paris at Rendez-Vous Femme in October ’07 TRUFFLE now sits alongside some of the best designers in the world.
The inspiration for the label comes from the ‘diamond’ ingredient itself where we embrace the wonderful associations of raw vs. luxury inspiring the whole design ethos; we draw upon the fact the truffle is hunted and unearthed in the darkest hours of the morning and transformed into a robust flavour for pure indulgence; the fact the truffle can’t be cultivated and only found in certain areas of the world inspires us to design couture pieces offered as personal made-to-order services to a very select client base from Oslo to London.
The ‘luxury’ signature is translated through our use of Italian yarns, unique fabrics and immaculate pattern cutting; our ‘raw’ handwriting references structured lines with contrast fabrics; colour palette takes influence from natural states including metals, wood & gems; eccentric use of appliqués give a unique point of view.
Designs are developed and produced with highly respected and recognised people within the industry; our pattern cutter works with Matthew Williamson, our beaded designs are hand embroidered by the same couture factory used by Burberry, our fine gauge knitwear is produced by the same suppliers for Jonathon Saunders and our bags are by the same supplier as Mulberry. For our A/W 08 collection our super-chunky knitwear is hand-knitted in Macedonia, a country with a strong tradition in handmade arts and crafts. This factory has an extensive network of artisans working from their own homes, including women from different ages, education and ethnic backgrounds, providing opportunities where there were none.
